ChatGPT or Google Bard : What’s the difference ?

ChatGPT Vs Google Bard

The interactive chatbot (ChatGPT) was introduced by the company (OpenAI) in November 2022. Despite OpenAI itself cautioning against the inaccuracy of the bot’s responses, this chatbot quickly became a phenomenon in the technical community and the topic of conversation around the globe as people started looking for ways to use the content produced by artificial intelligence for work, education, and personal purposes. There are benefits and drawbacks to generating material.

The Google Bard interactive chatbot, which is based on artificial intelligence and natural language processing technologies, was announced as a result of the significant online outcry, but it is still in the final testing stages and is not expected to be released until the end of February 2023.

Based on the data it already had, generative AI generates the content after the user asks about it. To predict the following set of words in a particular context, it makes use of enormous text data sets. To produce text that is coherent and realistic, it looks for statistical trends and relationships between words.

But there are major differences between Google Bard and ChatGPT, despite their similar functionality. So what are these differences?

Firstly What is ChatGPT ?

ChatGPT

ChatGPT is an interactive chatbot based on the GPT-3 language model, which it uses to craft responses to user queries into a conversational dialogue.

Popular content generated by the ChatGPT bot includes :

  • Simple code.
  • Blog posts, and articles.
  • Email drafts.
  • Abstracts of transcripts, meetings and podcasts.
  • Simple explanations of complex topics.
  • Summaries of legal materials.
  • Product Description.
  • Translations.
  • jokes or memes.
  • Social media posts.

Editors, instructors, and academics at universities and academic institutions are alarmed by the ChatGPT bot. They pondered how to stop students from cheating and plagiarism because he produces texts that are difficult to separate from those written by humans. In reaction, OpenAI released a tool (AI Text Classifier) on January 31, 2023, to categorize texts and determine whether they were written by a ChatGPT bot.

Secondly what is the Google Bard bot ?

Google Bard

The Google Chatbot Bard gathers its data from the internet and bases its operations on the language model (LaMDA). Bard will answer queries more thoroughly than the typical Google search thanks to this language model.

Similar to Alexa and Siri, the Bard bot’s primary objective is to retrieve information from a search engine results page in the form of a brief response with links that allow users to learn more.

The Bard will also serve as your personal assistant, assisting with chores like making reservations, scheduling vacations, and meal preparation.

Third What are the main differences between Google Bard and ChatGPT :

The two bots’ functionality will be comparable, allowing users to type a question and get an answer that sounds human.

However, the primary distinction between Google Bard and ChatGPT is the source of the data. While ChatGPT responses are based on data available through 2021, Bard will pull its information from the web so the user receives the most recent information. In order to access the most recent study, Bard will have access to more data.

The ChatGPT bot employs the Large Language Model (GPT-3) created by OpenAI, whereas Google Bard uses the Large Language Model (LaMDA) created by Google. The paradox in this situation is that both models are built on (Transformer), an open-source neural network architecture for natural language understanding developed by Google.

However, LaMDA’s model differs from other language models in that it is trained on dialogue and can create dialogue against individual words by identifying patterns in sentences and between words. In contrast, GPT-3 is trained on text creation, which is why ChatGPT generates content in a single text message.

A component not yet present in Google Bard is ChatGPT’s own tool for identifying generated text or other language paradigms.

While ChatGPT has a free version and a paid version, OpenAI recently launched ChatGPT Plus, Google Bard bot is currently completely free.
